Ebs’ Hot Takes: NFL Draft Edition

Josh Allen

WEST PITTSTON, PA – I know a lot of you probably want me to chime in on the Cleveland Cavaliers’ controversial win and Gleyber Torres‘ promotion.

I’ll give you this… Never count out LeBron James and Torres is going to be fine. The New York Yankees second baseman is going to be a star for years to come.

Folks, we’re just three days away from the NFL draft. Can you feel the excitement in the air? Because I can!

We could see quarterbacks go in the first three picks. That almost never happens.

While there are only about 10-15 blue-chip guys this year, it’s still a very deep draft. Thursday night is going to be fun.

Here’s an NFL draft edition of Ebs’ Hot Takes. Enjoy.

Six quarterbacks will be taken in the first round. So I’m pretty sure the over/under is 4.5 quarterbacks for Thursday night.

The way I see it, Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen are all first-round locks. Probably top-10 locks. And Lamar Jackson will likely go in the top 20 picks.

That leaves Mason Rudolph. If the Buffalo Bills miss out on the top 5, which is unlikely but could happen, they could take the Oklahoma State product. I could also see a team like New England, Pittsburgh or New Orleans take the risk.

The Cleveland Browns will take Josh Allen first overall. If I’m Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey, I take Sam Darnold and the decision is easy. There’s a lot of risk in Josh Allen, and I mean a lot of risk, while there Darnold could be ready to start Day 1.

However, the rumor of Allen as the first overall selection has been going on for way too long. If there wasn’t any truth to it, it probably would have died by now.

Not to mention, Mel Kiper Jr. had consistently had Allen as his top selection in mock drafts while Todd McShay and Matt Miller are all in on the Wyoming product. Say what you want about this trip, but they’re three of the best draft analysts out there. They have a reputation on the line.

Derrius Guice will go in the first round. There’s some question of whether or not Saquon Barkley will be the lone running back taken in round one.

The over/under is set at 1.5. I’ll take the over.

LSU product Derrius Guice is going to be a stud. He could be a trendy pick by the Steelers if they believe their future with Le’Veon Bell is in murky waters.

Will Hernandez is going to be one of the best offensive lineman from this draft class, and is a first-round lock. Remember the name Will Hernandez.

Will Hernandez

The offensive guard is a straight up mauler and his play reminds me a lot of Richie Incognito. He’s probably the best run blocker in the class.

After a strong Senior Bowl, Hernandez has boosted himself into the first round. Behind Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson, who’s considered one of the top players in the draft class, the rest of the position group is wide open ranking-wise.

Hernandez could be a Pro Bowler for years to come.
