Gnome?! Of course we gnome, he's Jake deGromb - the guy that killed the DH!

NEW YORK, NYThe Mets and their fans got some good news about one of their ace pitchers. Jacob deGrom doesn’t have any ligament damage and is cleared to throw. The young fire-baller was injured swinging a bat Wednesday. He tried to return to the mound after the injurious strikeout but had to leave the game.

Los Mets and baseball purists lucked out with deGrom not being seriously injured. The Amazin’s are very froggin’ fortunate because they can keep one of the best pitchers in the league off of the Mets ListDisabled List. And you baseball purists get a pass because you can avoid having to defend the archaic and silly practice of pitchers batting for a little while longer.

The clamoring for bringing the Designated Hitter to the National League has gotten louder and louder over recent years. It seems to be a matter of when, not if, the National League will adopt the DH. An injury to a star pitcher while batting or running the bases will shorten the clock. “That’s the way things are, guy…” is not a valid reason to keep doing stupid things. Bring the DH to the National League.

Now that we’ve got the baseball talk out of the way, lets talk hockey.

Out west the Vegas Golden Knights are finding things a bit tougher in the second round. They’re tied 2-2 with the Sharks. Vegas will look to get a leg up on the next chapter of their fairy-tale franchise start tonight as the series heads back to Sin City. The Sharks will be gunning to send the series back to San Jose with a chance to close it out.

The Predators and Winnipeg J-E-T-S Jets are locked in a pitched battle in the Central time zone. I was watching Scott Hartnell and Dustin Byfuglien go at it last night and trying to decide who I hate less. The Jets have put together a stellar season after not making the playoffs last year. The Predators are looking to get over the hump after falling to Sid and the Penguins in last year’s Stanley Cup Final.

The Pens are even-Steven with the Washington Capitals after last night’s win in Pittsburgh. They’ll head back to the capital for Game 5 Saturday night. The Capitals do not have a good record against the Penguins in the playoffs. They’re looking to beat Pittsburgh for just the second time in eleven playoff meetings.

The Tampa Bay Ex-Rangers Lighting are leading the Boston Bruins 2-1 in the other Eastern Conference showdown. Game 4 is tonight in Beantown. Both teams have played some stellar hockey but Tukka Rask has been a bit suspect in net for Cheesy’s Bruins. This series may not make it back to Boston for Game 6.  But, I’m always wrong about these things so the B’s may win it all.

How ’bout them Yankees?!

Yes we’re back on baseball… The Bombers are coming off of a stellar road trip. They swept the Orange County Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in Southern California and took three of four against the defending World Series Champion Houston Astros. The Boston Red Sox have matched the Yanks step-for-step and still lead NY by a game in the standings.

Speaking of needing a DH, Sports Rain Man Junoir Blaber returns tomorrow. Please check him out and please feel free to comment below.
