LAS VEGAS, NV – To date, the MTM Sunday Picks haven’t disappointed as the archives will show not one losing week during the entire season. There have been a few “break even” weeks like the opening weekend of the NFL playoffs – how you lose an OVER bet when both teams combine for 900 yards of total offense is beyond me – and thus denied a 2-0 sweep in the Ravens-Colts game last week. Holding at a 67% rate (42-21), here is the one play worth your investment today. And there is at least one play tomorrow, so you’ll have to come back and visit.

A young America had its historical gunfights at Dodge City and Tombstone that epitomized the Wild West. Today’s western venues, Denver and San Francisco, are synonymous with that Old West. Will shootouts be the case today? One game doesn’t pass the sniff test of a western shootout but can still line your trouser pockets, provided you bet the UNDER.

In a rematch of an opening week meeting, the Packers travel to San Fran for an 8:00 start. That first game’s final score read SF 30, GB 22 for a total of 52 points. But Alex Smith was the starting QB and K David Akers hadn’t shown the hiccups that would plague him for the remaining 16 weeks. Now, second-year man Colin Kaepernick is leading the huddle for the Niners. Akers remains as the kicker even though he can’t kick as straight as Billy Cundiff; the guy who missed the biggest kick of his life last year for the other Harbaugh. Who is a better option? Right now Billy Crudup might be a better choice. billycrudup

On the other side of the field, the Packers weren’t their usual crisp offensive selves, a problem that appeared to resurface in the Wild Card win against the Vikings last week. The Pack also have a problem kicker on their hands in Mason Crosby. Maybe Las Vegas is aware of all these factors as the TOTAL is a surprisingly low 45 for these two teams. I’m confident that the SF defense can muffle the Packer offense as SF offensively plods around themselves with a QB in his first post season game. My under plays were an outstanding 13-2, and this one looks like a solid UNDER 45.

I’ll be back tomorrow to parlay today’s winnings. In the meantime, check out Dr. Diz’s Bigger & Better piece.

A man amongst men. Cheesy Bruin kicked cancer to the curb - twice. The Cheese Man's a big, tough teddy-bear who survived the Bronx despite being an unabashed Boston Bruins fan and Sargent-At-Arms for Angry Ward's Urban Spur Posse. Nuff said. Doctors have taken most of this throat and had to make him a new tongue from thigh-meat (his own) and still he won't shut up about the Bruins, Cowboys, Pirates and Cleveland Cavaliers. And yes, his kids do love him.

My gut tells that the Pack are going to win this one by 10 or more. Clay Matthews will be in Kaepernick’s jersey.

    A season for the ages

Cheese, your historic run has been torturous for me…I emptied the remainder of my once mighty sportsbook.com account in the first week, and judiciously decided to take the season off this year…which, in some cosmic way, may have factored into your success. Unfortunately, the playoffs is a different matter and I just reloaded…so, sorry in advance if I screw you up. Can’t wait to hear your take on the Seahawks-Falcons.

Now we’re talking. Someone here is putting his money where the cheeseman’s mouth is.

Great googily moogily! Had any of us known that you knew what you were talking about we’d be rich! But who the Sam Hill is going to listen to a Cowboys/Bruins fan?! Damn you, Cheesy Bruin!
