NEW YORK, NY – Last week’s last-second Jake Locker touchdown throw turned a sure loss into a push against the spread and a tie like that is a victory but you know the Walking Boss‘ attitude here at MTM – ties don’t count in the winning percentage. After a 2-1-1 Week #3 the record is a healthy 8-3-1 and hitting at a 73% clip. Here are today’s Week 4 NFL Picks (or winners) , cuz all I do is win…
FAVORITE: All a bettor needs to know about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is that their defense is totally legit in the current world of pinball-offenses across the NFL and shows in line makers respect installing the winless team as favorites with a rookie QB to make his first start against Arizona today. Tampa has their top two WR’s questionable for the game as well but not to worry because Mike Glennon is used to taking second-team snaps in practice and has developed the necessary rapport with his “B” team receivers sure to see a decent work load with or without the injuries. Doug Martin will run the ball well against a tired Cards team making their third trip to the eastern time zone for a 1:00 start in the first four weeks. Carson Palmer scares no one and this one is easy from the get-go laying less than a FG. BUCS -2 1/2
UNDER: Again, this is the star of my NFL picks for a second year as the ‘under’ is 3-0 so far. Today, I’m counting on the Cowboys to attempt the same type of run-heavy offensive game plan used against the Rams. After much success, it figures they won’t abandon the run even if slow to develop and only helps for a low scoring output. The only worry is for the Dallas secondary to defend Phillip Rivers slinging of the football for big yardage as their running backs are only picking up must-have yards on short yardage situations. Dallas is clearly protecting Tony Romo’s ribs and spells U-N-D-E-R all game long. DALL/SD UNDER 46 1/2
OVER: The Redskins haven’t had trouble putting points on the board even if in garbage-time scenarios beset by a matador-like defense and RGlll showing the timidity on his balky knee. Matt Flynn is under center for the Raiders because of the concussed Terrel Pryor but was slated to be the starter before his preseason implosive performances proved otherwise. Flynn is serviceable and definitely can put points on the board. This is a game where the Redskins are clearly better than their opponent as the only worry is a game plan dictating so in a conservative strategy employing plenty of the Alfred Morris that took tread last week. Fingers crossed WASH/OAK OVER 43 1/2
UNDERDOG: I’m not sure how it happened but it did last year–the Jags beat the Colts and played them tough in the other divisional tilt last year. Andrew Luck looks like a Geico caveman and seems to play like one against the NFL’s worst team. Not asking Jax to win, but just cover a generous handful of points is strictly a gut feeling I have. And that’s a big gut. JAGUARS +8 1/2
