New Years Thoughts for Yankees, Mets, Knicks, Jets and Giants

SPANISH HARLEMHappy New Year everyone, I hope you had a great time last night and if you are dealing with a hangover like I am, drink a lot of water and electrolytes. New Year, but certainly the same ol’ me. With that said, let’s jump into some topics for today.

Yankees Offseason

My ideal scenario would be Cody Bellinger and Tatsuya Imai, some relief pitching sprinkled in. We as fans shouldn’t have to wait this long for a major acquisition from the Yankees, but it has become commonplace for this front office. Imai will be posted until January 2nd, so a decision needs to be made soon. If they were able to develop some talent on offense, they wouldn’t have to worry about dishing out big contracts to free agents but here we are.

Mets Offseason

I guess you can say the same thing for Mets on Bellinger and Imai, as they have reportedly the same interest in both players, but it definitely had to be difficult to see fan favorite players leave or traded. Other than signing some significant former Yankees, the Mets are looking to upgrade their team in any way they can, possibly trades if they are not able to land the big free agents (the Yankees and Mets stories could be interchangeable at this point).

New York Knicks

Buddy Diaz

The key to this team will be health. They have dealt with injuries to key players recently, but you need everyone healthy and on the same page for this group to make the NBA Finals. Their offense is evolving and better than they were last year and while that is positive, their defense is much to be desired. For every good defensive game they have, there are a lot of others where they lose if not for their offense. It’s not a complete team just yet and the injuries have allowed Mike Brown to find some unsung heroes on their roster in important situations, which will benefit them in the future.

Jets and Giants

They are lumped together because they would both love to have the overall 1st pick in the NFL draft. The Giants have a slim chance, though like years prior have not benefited from their lousy season by winning games late in the season when they should be tanking. For as bad as they are, the Jets need the 1st pick more but somehow stand as the 3rd overall pick in the draft. The Giants can still benefit by trading down and getting more picks to splurge on, but the Jets will certainly try to draft the best possible QB in their slot. Can Jets and Giants trade picks, that would certainly be interesting.

That’s it for now, please come back tomorrow for more great content from Jackson Sternberg.
