Johnnies Roster Update
Since we last discussed the Red Storm, there have been a few changes to the current St. John’s roster. Recently, some overseas players were ruled ineligible, which has created uncertainty for the upcoming season. Two players have also been deemed academically ineligible, making it crucial for St. John’s to act quickly. Realistic targets to fill these gaps include former Auburn player Keyshawn Hall and former McDonald’s All-American Mark Mitchell. With Johnny’s already featuring Toudne Yessoufou, transfer Quinn Ellis, and the talents of Ian Jackson and Ruben Prey, Keyshawn Hall could be a perfect fit, immediately providing a legitimate third option behind Jackson and Yessoufou. Hall would likely take on a role similar to Bryce Hopkins, who excelled last year as the second or third option in Pitinos system. While nothing is guaranteed, St. John’s roster could certainly use this reinforcement after the recent NCAA rulings.
A Mets Miracle?
I’ll preface this by saying I am one of the more optimistic Mets fans you’ll ever meet, but the New York Mets have been playing an exciting brand of baseball since the trading deadline. It may sound crazy to some, and a bit slow to say, but the Mets were 10 games back of the final wildcard spot. Watching this team over the past few weeks, with contributions from Benjamin Ewing and the resurgence of Lindor, has made me hopeful about the rest of the season. Why not imagine the impossible? Why can’t the Mets be that team people remember for making a remarkable late season run? Heading into the final week with players like McLean, Scott and Zach Thornton, the rotation has been looking stronger, and Sean Manaea has shown impressive form during the second half of the season.
