WASHINGTON, DC – With The Public Professor gone missing after either being over-served at the Ray Lewis Retirement Party, or suffering/succumbing to the sun stroke he ignored while tanning in his bikini with Lori Levine, we were called upon to be the Kirk Cousins of MTM today – unexpectedly filling in for a Franchise QB on the biggest of stages. While this is as daunting a task as they come, it could have been worse. See, the Washington Redskins’ folly with their most important player ever was so egregious, that it made for an easy topic to present to you. With that, we ask this simple, yet necessary question: Did the Redskins Risk RG III Ruin trying to win a first-round playoff game?

(As Giants fans we hate the Skins, but after watching this, how do you not like this guy?)

After ironically getting hurt by the same Ravens that knocked him out again yesterday, Robert Griffin III could now be facing serious knee surgery. If that’s the case, you can thank Mike Shanahan. Unlike the New York Mets in the past few seasons, the Redskins medical staff, and Dr. James Andrews in particular, was pretty clear about the injury and the potential risk:
He came off the field, walked through the sidelines, circled back through the players and took off back to the field. It wasn’t our opinion. We didn’t even get to touch him or talk to him. Scared the hell out of me.

But that’s not what was reported to the press by Coach Shanahan:
He’s the one that gives me that information,” Shanahan said on Dec. 10. “It’s way over my head.

03272011_GL27andSo, who does one believe? Do we believe the grandfatherly doctor from Alabama or the caffeine-fueled NFL coach that hasn’t won since John Elway? Before you decide, here’s a follow-up quote from Dr. Andrews before yesterday’s game:

I’m the one that shut him down that day, finally. I’ve been a nervous wreck letting him come back as quick as he has. He’s doing a lot better this week, but he’s still recovering and I’m holding my breath because of it. He passed all the tests and all the functional things we do, but it’s been a trying moment for me, to be honest with you.

We’re leaning toward the good doctor.

Grote2DMax, tomorrow.
