Ebs’ Hot Takes: American Pharoah and More

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – It has been a busy couple of weeks in the sports world!Pharoah

From the 146th running of the Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course, to August baseball and everything in between, there’s a lot to catch up on!

Why not start now?

Here’s this week’s edition of Ebs’ Hot Takes:

American Pharoah is still a champ. I have spent the last five days follow every one of American Pharoah’s steps. I was there from the minute he arrived at Saratoga Race Course from the minute he crossed the finish line during the Travers Stakes.

And let me tell you… This is one incredible horse.

Just because the Triple Crown winner missed out on the Travers doesn’t make him any less of a horse, because he still is one of the greatest thoroughbreds of all time.

This horse has been on the road consistently since he started racing. Out of his 10-career starts, eight of them were away from home. The travel was bound to catch up to him at some point.

OsunaNow all we can do is hope he runs in the Breeder’s Cup instead of an early retirement.

The Toronto Blue Jays are H-O-T, HOT, HOT, HOT! If the New York Yankees fail to win the AL East, it won’t be because the Bronx Bombers lost the division, but because the Toronto Blue Jays won it.

Toronto is arguably the best team in baseball right now with a star studded lineup and some clutch pitching.

And it’s odd, because the Blue Jays’ bullpen seemed to be one of the holes heading into the trade deadline and with rookie closer Roberto Osuna pitching the way he is, that problem has seemed to go away. It’s incredible, Osuna is only a 20-year-old and has locked down the back of the Toronto bullpen.

While I do strongly believe the Bronx Bombers will make the playoffs, I just don’t feel it will be as the AL East champs. The Yankees just swept the Atlanta Braves and gained no ground on the Blue Jays.

Luckily the Yankees and Blue Jays still have seven games left against each other to settle the score.

Kanye West for President! While this has nothing to do with sports whatsoever, I felt like it is worth mentioning.

During the rap legend’s lengthy acceptance speech during the VMAs Sunday night, Kanye West announced that he will run for President of the United States of America in 2020. Whether he was serious or not has yet to be seen, but it is certainly an interesting idea to say the least.

I’d consider it.
