Rahm to LIV
In a stunning change of events, 2 time major champion Jon Rahm has signed with the Saudi-backed rival to the PGA tour, LIV Golf. After pledging his allegiance countless times to the PGA tour as recently as this past summer, Rahm left anyway. The deal is reported to be worth over 500 million dollars. You can’t blame Rahm for taking the money. The state of the PGA tour is a mess. There’s been no update on the merger between the PGA tour and PIF (private investment fund, that funds the LIV Tour) that was agreed to this past summer, which leaves Rahm and the other LIV tour players’ future on the PGA tour in doubt. Losing Rahm is a massive loss to the PGA tour and puts immense pressure on them to get a deal done with PIF before the December 31st deadline that would merge the two tours.
Ohtani to the Dodgers
Shohei Ohtani signed a record breaking 10 year 700 million dollar contract with the LA Dodgers. The two way Japanese phenom will not pitch in 2024 while he recovers from Tommy John surgery. Ohtani will join an already stacked lineup that now includes 3 past MVPs with Ohtani, Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts.
Lakers win In Season Tournament
The Lakers defeated the Pacers 123-109 to win the NBAs first ever In-season tournament. LeBron James was named MVP of the tournament. However it was Anthony Davis who dominated Saturday night with 42 points and 20 rebounds. The Pacers look to be one of the most improved teams in the NBA. Led by budding superstar Tyrese Haliburton who has firmly planted himself into the regular season MVP race averaging 26 PPG to go along with 12 assists per game.
