Port Jeff NY- Greetings and happy Sunday! MLB trade season is upon us, let’s discuss.

Dodgers get Skubal

As of writing this article, Tarik Skubal has been traded to the Dodgers. Well, there isn’t much to say. Just as they did all offseason in adding Kyle Tucker, the Dodgers have added another superstar, this time it’s the best pitcher in the sport. The Dodgers have suffered injuries in their rotation for a lot of the season with Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow having missed most of 2026 and Shohei Ohtani being uncertain to pitch again this season. When healthy, this might be the best rotation I’ve ever seen. Glasnow and Snell will return before the postseason and they’ll join Yamamoto and now Skubalto form an unbeatable rotation come October. It’s already been reported that Skubals preferred destination was LA once he hits free agency this upcoming offseason.

I have to think this only makes it more likely that there is some kind of lockout for the 2027 season. I’m all for teams being able to go out and spend money and trade for as many guys as possible, however what we’ve seen from the Dodgers the last few years is just something we’ve never seen. They’re just outbidding every team and have signed almost every big free agent. The Dodgers are currently -120 to win the NL and frankly I’m not sure that’s high enough. There isn’t a team anywhere close to as good as they are in all of baseball let alone the NL. It’s still baseball and anything can happen but I’m afraid we see the Dodgers steam roll to another World Series.
