Giants turn to McCarthy

If you’d have told people at the start of this season that not only would the Giants be in first place by the end of October, however their starting QB going forward was going to be JJ McCarthy, I don’t think there’d be a single person who believed you. Yet, this is where we stand. I have no idea if McCarthy is any good, he did look good albeit in mostly garbage time against the Saints last week. In the brief time he’s started, McCarthy was one of the worst QBs we’ve seen in recent memory. Despite leading the NFC East at 3-2-1, the Giants are still not favored to win the division even with how bad every other team has looked. The Giants are no exception, the pass rush has been there at times this year but we’re still seeing them get absolutely gashed for big plays consistently.

Now they play a Houston team that appears to be hitting its stride. As ten point underdogs on the road I don’t expect this matchup to go very well for JJ McCarthy. With a loss even at 3-3-1 they still would be in a good spot to win the division given the disastrous state of the Eagles, Commanders and Cowboys, and the Giants already have a win over the Cowboys. I have to say I will be surprised if McCarthy or even Winston is able to lead this team to a division title but who knows. The best scenario for this team would be to flame out and finish with 5 or 6 wins and get as good a draft pick as possible while continuing to build towards a future with Jaxson Dart.
