FROM THE PRESS BOX – As we near the finish line in both the NBA and NHL, the playoff races are gearing up.
It looks like LeBron James is about to miss out on the playoffs (I’m looking at you Magic Johnson) and the Buffalo Sabres are quickly falling out of playoff contention after their hot start (I’m looking at you Phil Housley).
But there have been some pleasant surprises in each league. Like the Boston Celtics fading fast. Or the Vegas Golden Knights making yet another run.
It’s going to be a fun couple of months as we race toward the postseason.
Johnny Manziel should choose the AAF over XFL. Johnny Manziel’s CFL career came to a crashing end on Wednesday when the troubled quarterback had his contract terminated.

Rumors have it he’s considering playing in the XFL over the AAF. However, he’d be smart to choose the latter.

The AAF has the NFL’s support and is on national television every weekend. Not to mention, he’d be playing for some respected coaches and rosters are full of borderline NFL talent.
With an impressive stint in the AAF, Manziel could very well play his way back into the NFL.
DK Metcalf will be a top-10 pick. Ole Miss wide receiver DK Metcalf has already made some noise leading up into the NFL Scouting Combine.

He’s also expect to make noise at the combine.
With Metcalf’s size and speed, he could be a bonafide star in the league. And the Buffalo Bills could be a perfect landing spot for him.
Buffalo is in dire need of a true No. 1 wide receiver, and after head coach Sean McDermott’s comments on Wednesday, Metcalf could be their guy.

Sounds good to me

Bryce Harper ends up with the Los Angeles Dodgers. This is pure speculation, but it just makes too much sense.
The Los Angeles Dodgers hold spring training in Arizona. Bryce Harper lives in Arizona. LA is a lot closer to Las Vegas than Philadelphia, too.
Harper is also a Lakers fan.
If the New York Yankees are out on Harper, which I fully believe they are, the Dodgers are my pick to land the MVP candidate.
The addition of Harper would automatically make the Dodgers my pick to win the National League.
