SPANISH HARLEM – Baseball is one of those sports where you have to pace yourself, more so when it comes to the New York baseball teams. The New York Mets started off well and held on to first place in the National League East longer than most expected. As we know now, things have changed and the Mets are on the outside looking in. The New York Yankees had everything go about as bad as it could but now they have the inside track on a Wild Card birth, even with their recent losing streak.
The Mets still have a chance in their division, as they only 5 games back and that may be their way to playoffs. The Wild Card could be had but with their record, the best option is the division. Winning 4 straight has helped them keep that dream alive and as we have have seen with Yankees, one good week can change the perception of your season. Which ever New York team you root for, it will be a wild ride to the very end.
Eagles Add Gardner Minshew
In a surprise move, the Philadelphia Eagles traded a 2022 6th round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for the “Electric Mustache” Gardner Minshew. While some in The City of Brotherly Love are worried that this another Howie Roseman move to add a quarterback controversy, I see it as insurance. Joe Flacco was a nice story because he grew up an Iggles fan and playing for the favorite team is one of those things every young fan dreams of, but we know there is not much left in the tank at 36-years-old.
If something was to happen to their starter, Jalen Hurts, there aren’t many people that believe that they would be able to win games and adding Minshew gives you that opportunity to compete at a high level. Minshew mania was fun to watch in Jacksonville and for someone that pretty much came out of nowhere, he excelled at times for a team that didn’t have enough talent. He still has potential and can provide a spark to a team and that should not be ignored. He will start out as QB3 but expect him to be the clear cut back up once he is familiar with the system.
That’s it now, come back tomorrow for the long-straw winner between Different Matt and Cam James.
Until Next Time…
