FREEHOLD, NJ – As the NFL season comes to a compassionate close for the New York Giants and Jets, their fans can find solace in the fact that they will, again, have high draft picks. Hmmm… What do they need most? NFL Week 18D is basically an opportunity for bench and practice players to get some television time so their family and friends can see them play. There are a few games that will determine who will limp into Wild Card Weekend. With that, here are my FREE NFL Picks and Week 18 Notes.
The Las Vegas Raiders host the Los Angeles Chargers for the Win-And- In game. Simply put, the team that wins will grab a Wild Card spot in the AFC. This is a battle of quarterbacks. Justin Herbert may have the best arm in football and Derek Carr is Tony Romo reincarnated. Lots of stats but no wins when it really counts. I think that Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Austin Ekeler and Jared Cook will be too much for the Raiders to contain. Home field advantage will not be enough. Chargers 35 Raiders 27
Tom Brady and the Buccaneers are not exactly charging into the post season. The NFC South is the weakest division this season without the likes of the Saints Drew Brees and the Panthers Christian McCaffery. The Panthers are a team trying to find a leader and signal caller. QB by committee has not worked well for Carolina and will not work this week either. Tampa Bay 28 Carolina 13
With Derek Henry still sidelined, the Titans could have tanked. Just the opposite happened. Ryan Tannehill was a steady captain complementing strong run performances from D’Onta Forman and Dontrell Hilliard. Tennessee travels to Houston to attempt to rap up the number one seed in the AFC. The Texans are feisty a group of unwanted players such as Rex Burkhead, Brandin Cooks and Danny Amendola being led by rookie Davis Mills who has played well . They will create some drama but Mike Vrabel’s gang from Nashville will prevail. Titans 24 Houston 17
Carson Wentz had a chance to be a leader for the Indianapolis Colts last week. As usual, he did not. Now the Colts must win in Jacksonville . Hand the ball to Jonathan Taylor and don’t mess it up Carson! Colts 30 Jaguars 17
Josh Allen and his Buffalo Bills welcome Zach Wilson to Orchard Park New York for a good ole fashion ass whooping. With the victory, the Bills grab the Division. The Jets are looking forward to playing golf. Bills 28 Jets 7
