SPANISH HARLEM – Today, we get game one of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics. It’s hard to complain about the match up because you can argue that they are two best teams are in the league, regardless of record. For me, I will be rooting for the Warriors, as I have no interest in seeing Boston win a championship. More so than anything else, I will be watching the that I think will have an impact on win and loses.
Stephen Curry/Marcus Smart
I put these two together because it will be the matchup that holds the most weight in determining who will win this series. Smart is the defensive player of the year and Curry is… Curry. There is no way that Golden State will win the Finals without Curry being a big reason why they win and it will be interesting to see how the offense runs through Curry, making Smart’s life miserable going through pick after pick to contain the Warriors best player.
Jayson Tatum
The Boston Celtics most valuable player has had quite a postseason and seems headed into superstardom if he can bring the city a championship. Tatum has been a future start in the making for a couple of years now but never had THE MOMENT and now being the best player on a team that is contending for a championship has put him a in different category, only the best players achieve. Getting a ring will add him to the long list of great players that have brought Boston a chip.
Klay Thompson
Last year, the Warriors were a good team that needed an extra player to fully contend in the west. That player was Klay Thompson and now that is back and healthy, it’s to see why they back in the finals. Klay is one of the best shooters in the game and impact on offense is immense, when you consider that he is a guy that can get white hot beyond the arc. If Boston’s defense is too locked into Curry, then it will be Thompson that will benefit.
Draymond Green/Al Horford
The reason these two interested me is because they provide the same traits to their team. Each will provide interior defense and rebounding, though they will score from time to time but that won’t be expected. They will bring the intangibles and toughness that make them beloved figures in the locker room. While their impact will be an afterthought in this series, just watch them and appreciate what they bring to the table.
That’s it for me, come back tomorrow for Cam James, who looks just like Adam Fox.
