Sports Rain Man: Jets Draft Review, Knicks Up 3-1, Rangers Sweep Caps

NIAGARA FALLS, NY Happy Monday! I am exhausted from a five-sports weekend. The NFL Draft, NBA and NHL playoffs along regular season games for MLS and MLB. I won’t touch the Mets or the NY Red Bulls cause there is plenty more season to play.  With that said, lets look at today’s menu: Jets Draft Review, Knicks Up 3-1, Rangers Sweep Caps.

Jets Draft Review

I will look at the Jets Draft and leave Ben Whitney to talk about the Giants draft. The Jets also signed a bunch of Undrafted Free Agents and considering their luck in that department, its worth exploring but that would take to long and “Aint nobody got time for that!” So lets look at the Jets picks.

Round 1: No. 11 (from MIN)- Olumuyiwa Fashanu, OT, Penn State – I like this pick cause the Jets O-Line has been injury prone and signing Tyron Smith, who hasn’t played a full season in 5 years. The kid will see action but won’t be under pressure to be a star immediately.
Round 3 No. 65 (from CAR)- Malachi Corley,WR, Western Kentucky – This is the guy they got for trading away Zach Wilson. He will be part of a revamped WR room. Definitely will be the slot/possession receiver, the Jets were looking for.
Round 4: No. 134 (Compensatory – from BAL)- Braelon Allen, RB, Wisconsin – This guy is gonna be part of a 1-2 punch with Breece Hall in a power running game.
Round 5: No. 171 (from PHI)- Jordan Travis, QB, Florida State – This kid is a steal. He has a future starter QB potential and has no pressure and time to learn from a professional’s professional in Tyrod Taylor.
Round 5: No. 173 (from KC) – Isaiah Davis, RB, South Dakota State – I don’t get this pick as he is another power runner. He is a great pass blocker and probably in there for that ability. And maybe special teams.
Round 5: No 176 (From SF*)- Qwan’tez Stiggers, CB, CFL-Toronto Argonauts – He has a strange story of making his way to be an NFL draft pick. With the Jets Defensive Coordinator in Jeff Ulbrich having an incredible ability to develop players, he has a chance to make the league.
Round 7: No. 257 (Compensatory)- Jaylen King, S, Alabama – Similar to Stiggers, has plenty of potential to develop and that is what the last pick is, based on potential.

Knicks Up 3-1

Junior Blaber

The Knicks ae on the brink of winning the series. Philly has put up a hell of a fight. They should have won game 2 and did win game 3. However, the Knicks got back to form in Game 4. That was thanks to Jalen Brunson finding his regular season MVP-life form. Brunson had 45 points and 11 assists in a huge game. Josh Hart had his usual great all around game and that made up for a poor shooting night from Donte DiVincenzo and an ok performance from OG Anounby. It was the Knick bench led by Precious Achiwa Achiuwa – that really helped carry the effort to lead to victory.

Rangers Sweep Caps

The Rangers were smart to not make major moves at the trading deadline. They made minor moves, but on the whole they trusted the team they had, promoting from within the organization to add the grunt the team needed. And it has showed. The depth has proven they can have game-winners from any line and they work hard for each other. The fact that they won the Presidents Trophy and are no the first team to qualify for the second round of the playoffs. I only watch highlights but this team has just seemed resilient. When a play had to be made, it was made. Regardless of which forward line or defensive pairing.

Thanks for reading and come tomorrow to hear from the Former President of the Kristi Noem Dog Adoption Association, Ben Whitney.
