Mets Reach Rock Bottom, NBA Playoffs – Game 7s

HOLBROOK, NY- Greetings on what should be a terrific day of sports. Here are today’s topics. Mets Reach Rock Bottom, NBA Playoffs – Game 7s

Mets Reach Rock Bottom

The Mets suffered what was likely their worst defeat of the season in Miami on Saturday. Edwin Diaz entered the 9th inning protecting a 9-5 lead and absolutely melted, allowing 4 runs. That included a back-breaking 3-run HR to Josh Bell, in which Diaz used the patented Hansel Robles point-to-the-sky, as though the 430-foot HR was a routine pop-up! The Mets look truly lifeless at this point and there isn’t much reason to believe it’s going to get much better. I fully expect this roster to be picked clean at the deadline. The only names I’d say are untouchable are Lindor, Nimmo and Senga.

NBA Playoffs – Game 7s

Knicks/Pacers

Add Josh Hart to the growing list of Knicks on the injury report. OG Anunoby will reportedly go through shoot-around with the intention of trying to play in game 7, though it’s hard to imagine he’ll be anywhere near 100%. The same can be said for Hart, who suffered an abdominal injury in the loss to Indiana in game 6. The Knicks are – without question – a better team then the Pacers, however they are severely shorthanded. Tom Thibodeau playing his starters 45 minutes a game all season appears to have finally caught up to them. If fully healthy, they’d be much more suited to handle the war of attrition that the NBA Playoffs are. I won’t be stunned to see Indiana pull of the upset at the Garden, however I still believe even with all the injuries the Knicks are tough enough to outlast Indiana at home. I’ll take the Knicks in a very close game with Jalen Brunson having to likely handle and even bigger load with the recent injury to Josh Hart.

T-Wolves/Nuggets

This has been a strange series. Aside from game one, none of the games between these two have been particularly close. Minnesota dominated Denver in game 6 winning by 45 points. It’s been a battle between Nikola Jokic and Anthony Edwards, as each superstar’s supporting cast has largely let them down this series. Jokic is the best player on the planet, and at home in game seven, I think they’re almost unbeatable. Minnesota has already won two games in Denver, however. Anthony Edwards is just not getting enough help at the moment, though. Unless Edwards explodes for 50, or Karl Anthony Towns shows up, I don’t think they have enough to get by Denver.

On a personal note, I’m proud to announce that yours truly is officially a college graduate!
