SPANISH HARLEM – Will this be the last straw for Clay Holmes or will the New York Yankees, mostly Brian Cashman, decide that it’s better to demote him, no more excuses. We know Aaron Boone has very little input in the everyday approach to what the organization wants to do. If Cashman and company decide that they want to continue with Holmes as the closer, the change won’t be made.
I would like to believe that 90% of Yankee fans are tired of the same old nonsense being spewed by Boone. He will continue to show support to his players and when the decision is made on Holmes, he will show support for that decision. It is what he does, it is what he is paid to do. He knows his role and that won’t change under Cashman. What we all want to know is whether Cashman has had enough of Holmes and names a new closer.
Doing nothing would be insane, with our closer leading the league in blown saves. It’s not about believing he can do the job because he has been our closer for 3 years now and all Yankee fans know what he is good at and what he is bad at. He has had his ups and downs, but he cannot be trusted right now to close a game this season and they have to see if they can find lighting in a bottle with someone else on the team. I am hoping that a decision is made before this article is posted but I won’t hold my breath.
That’s it for now, please come back tomorrow for Action Jackson Sternberg.
