Mets Update, NY Football Recap and Caitlan Clark

The three most impactful players in the NFL?

NIAGARA FALLS, NYHappy, Monday! We have baseball in its stretch run, the NFL underway and a bunch of other sports, including the WNBA. That said, today’s topics are: Mets Update, NY Football Recap and Caitlan Clark.

Mets Update

The Mets lost to the Reds to end their 9-game win streak. However, the Mets remain in the final Wild Card spot, holding the tie-breaker over the Braves. Atlanta is 7th and has the same record… The Mets lost Jeff McNeil for the season after taking a pitch on the wrist. Lucky for the Mets, they have a lot of depth with José Iglesias becoming the everyday 2nd bagger. They are essentially in playoff games every game from here on out but have a 6-game road trip coming. They have to go at least 4-2 and can sweep the Blue Jays, but the Phillies up next will be the real challenge. I am actually proud of the fight the Mets are showing and regardless of the result, I will be happy with this season.

The Jets don’t play until tonight, so they are still undefeated. They have the pleasure of playing the reigning NFC Champions. Thanks NFL, for a real crapper start to the season… The NY Giants looked poor, Dan Jones is a major concern. In this new world of Free Agency, its not unusual for a mediocre player to play lights out during the final year of a contract and then return to form once they get the new contract. That is what Jones did to the Giants because he got hurt last season and looks terrible after one game. They should have let him walk and saved the money for Saquon… The Buffalo Bills love to give their fans agita as they struggled to get past the Arizona Cardinals. They didn’t look good at the start but did get better as the game went on. I don’t know about the season they will have as the new weapons aren’t impressive and the Cards aren’t that good for him to work so hard to get by them, at home even.

Caitlin Clark

She seems to have found her groove after the Olympic break, which makes sense because from the start of the college basketball season to #WNBA season, she hasn’t really had a break. I think I know what has been the issue with her that makes her so divisive. Part of it is the press… how they talk about her dropping 25 points but fail to mention that she was outscored by the opposing guard. The issue with her is really her fans and how they seem to want to denigrate other players – and the whole league – to talk about her greatness. It is insulting to other players and those that actually watch WNBA games – besides the Fever. There is this thing where she gets a hard foul – and its jealousy –  not just competitor sending a missive about no easy baskets.

And the WNBA is at the intersection of women’s sports; homosexuality and racism (when you consider the racial make-up of the league). This means the fans that want to uplift her attack the other players on 2 of the 3, which I am sure you can figure out which 2. It may seem unfair, but I think it is gonna take her stepping up and speaking out. It may not be her personality to do so but it will require her to do so.

Thanks for reading and come tomorrow to hear from the Ben Whitney, who will tell why Drew Lock will lead the Jints to the playoffs.
