PORT JEFFERSON, NY – Greetings, here’s what we’ve got for today. Mets Win, Jets Dominate, Shohei Ohtani GOAT?
Mets Win
The Mets defeated the Phillies Saturday to remain 2 games ahead of the Braves for the final Wild Card spot. For the second time in three years the Mets season will come down to a series in Atlanta. I must admit despite their countless number of injuries I’m absolutely terrified of the Braves. There’s just something very daunting about playing big games in that ballpark. Hopefully Francisco Lindor will return in time. However, I’m beginning to worry if we’ll see him again during the regular season. In Lindor’s absence, Luisangel Acuna has looked incredible to begin his career. Its been amazing to see the influx of young talent throughout this Mets lineup with Acuna, Vientos and Alvarez who is finally heating up. It’s all in front of the Mets. They are the better and more complete team at the moment and at this point anything other than this team making the playoffs will be a massive let down. As always, LFGM!!!!
How ‘Bout Those Jets?!
The Jets improved to 2-1 Thursday night with their dominant win over the Patriots. After coming on a little slow in the first two weeks, the offense looked like everything Jets fans have dreamed of for years. Aaron Rodgers looks like he could compete for MVP, Breece Hall and Braleon Allen already look like perhaps the best 1-2 punch backfield in the NFL, and Garrett Wilson despite his relatively slow start remains one of the best Wideouts in the league. I didn’t even mention the top 5 units that are the Jets defense. This is the best Jets team I’ve seen by far since their consecutive conference championship appearances. If everyone can stay healthy this team looks like the class of the AFC.
Shohei Ohtani GOAT?
After becoming the first player to reach 50 HR and 50 SB in a single season, and doing so in a game he went 6-6 with 3 Home Runs and 10 RBI, I think it’s safe to wonder: Is Shohei Ohtani the greatest player of all time? In a year where Ohtani wouldn’t pitch because of injury, it seemed the NL MVP race would be wide open. After all, Ohtani plays on a loaded Dodger team with multiple past MVP’s. Despite that, Ohtani has somehow taken his game to a level that I don’t think anyone could’ve imagined. Ohtani has run away with what will be the third MVP of his career and I think at this point is already a Hall of Famer. There are certainly players with more accomplished players with more polished resumes, but there is no question that Shohei Ohtani is the most talented player to ever play the game.
