Port Jeff NY- Greetings, let’s recap a wild week of New York Sports. Same Old Mets, Giants/Cowboys recap, Knicks stunning blockbuster

Same old Mets

The Mets lost their third straight Saturday night to fall a full game behind the Braves and are now in a virtual tie with the Diamondbacks for the final wildcard spot. Despite the awful week the Mets still control their own destiny and with a win and a D-Back loss they clinch a playoff birth. It was absolutely imperative that the Mets do everything in their power to ensure that the Double Header in Atlanta was meaningless and didn’t need to be played and yet here we are watching this team doing as it seems they always do, collapse in the most devastating way possible. In all likelihood the DH in Atlanta will be played and leave either one or both teams severely depleted heading into the playoffs.

Giants/Cowboys

To continue the trend of my favorite teams losing, the Giants lost Thursday night against the Cowboys 20-15. The Giants moved the ball really well but just couldn’t put the ball in the end zone. I thought Daniel Jones looked very good for the third straight game and did enough to put this team in a position to win the game. Some put the blame on Jones for missing a few deep balls, however I’d point to two key drops by Darius Slayton and Wan’dale Robinson late in the game that ultimately cost this team the game. This team looks much better than the one we saw a year ago. Despite my belief that Jones has been solid to start the year, its clear with even better Quarterback play this team could be very good.

Jacob Sternberg

Knicks stunning blockbuster

The Knicks stunned the world by trading Julius Randle and Donte Divencenzo to the Timberwolves for Karl-Anthony-Towns. This was truly a shocking move that no one saw coming. It’s sad to see Randle and Divencenzo dealt, Randle really blossomed as a terrific offensive player as a Knick and Divencenzo played a crucial role in their playoff run last year. The Knicks are getting an elite scorer at the center position who might be the best shooting big man of all time at least in terms of 3 point percentage. Towns gives this team a dimension they’ve never had and sets them up to be one of the best teams in the NBA
