NIAGARA FALLS, NY – Happy Monday everybody! A quick plea before we get to today’s talking points: NY Rangers Update, NFL NY Recap… Tomorrow is Election Day. I am gonna get on my soap box a bit. I ask that you go out and vote if you are registered to do so. If you are not registered, get registered so you can vote next year. I don’t care who or what party you align yourself with.
The year I was born in Ghana, there was a coup. It’s why we came to the USA. I was 5 and I didn’t get the right to vote until I was 23 or so. I had to take a test and swear my allegiance to the USA. It was a long journey. One that I am very proud of, as earning the right to vote meant a lot to me. It hurts my heart to see people born with this privilege not treasure it and use it. So please find time tomorrow to vote. And with that speech, let’s get back to your regular programming
NY Rangers Update
The Rangers were winning games but in a bit of an ugly fashion, according to head coach Peter Laviolette. He said they couldn’t keep leaning on Igor Shesterkin to play outstandingly in net. So, the coach shook up the lines after watching the team struggle past the Senators, and losing to the Capitals. He didn’t just shake up the forward lines. He also shook up the defensive pairings. Thankfully, the Blueshirts looked the far better team on Sunday vs the Fish Sticks – but still needed some heroics from Shesterkin. Hopefully these new linings and pairings will produce better results.
NFL NY Recap
The Giants played well and lost to the Commanders. Washington shockingly find themselves atop the NFC East. With a rookie quarterback, it was expected that they would struggle. But behind a solid defense and some good running, they have managed to be a formidable side. They needed a Hail Mary to beat the Da Bears – and Giants played them tight. They are not dominating teams but they are doing just enough to win. Meanwhile, the Giants aren’t winning games but they are looking more competitive despite injuries on the O-line. Not sure what this means for the future of Daboll but the team is a few degrees away from clicking properly.
The Bills needed a game winning 61-yard FG to win. The Dolphins had their #1 QB, Tua Tagovailoa, back and it showed in their ability to move the ball up and down the field. The game was a close, as the Bills tried to pull away but the Dolphins wouldn’t quit and after tying the game late, the Bills marched down the field. The Dolphins defense held their own, though, and forced the Bills into a long FG attempt, the kicker (whose name isn’t important enough for me to look up) somehow made it.
Thanks for reading and come back tomorrow for Ben Whitney, who will tell you how the World Series was fixed.
