PORT JEFF, NY – We have plenty to dive into… let’s hit it! Rangers’ Woes, Packers v Reactions, Tribute to Mr. Carnesecca
RANGERS WOES
It’s been a while since I’ve discussed hockey, but the Rangers have been struggling lately. My observation: the Broadway Blueshirts are unraveling. Jacob Trouba is rumored to be on the trading block, with numerous experts advocating for a major overhaul of the team’s core. In New York, the desire for swift resolutions is common; I believe that while the Rangers could benefit from some changes, dismantling the team entirely would be imprudent.
TRIBUTE TO MR. CARNESECCA
Last Saturday marked the passing of the esteemed Lou Carnesecca at the age of 99. Paying homage to Mr. Carnesecca is personal for me, as my Dad, Big Al Sternberg, was the one who introduced me to Red Storm basketball around the age of 11 or 12. The first time I entered the arena, I had the honor of meeting the legendary coach. It’s a cherished memory as a fan who was witnessing Chris Mullin’s first victory over Wagner in 2015. Louie was watching from the stands – an unforgettable moment for myself and many others. In that same season, my father and I saw a game where the Johnnies had yet to win in the Big East. Their sole conference victory came against DePaul, and once again, the legendary coach was present. He cemented my lifelong support for this program. Rest In Peace, Mr. Carnesecca.
PACKERS v LIONS REACTIONS
This year has had its share of lackluster Thursday night games, but this was not one of them. The division-leading Detroit Lions, in football’s most competitive division, hosted the surging Green Bay Packers in a thrilling Motor City shootout. Both quarterbacks were outstanding; Goff with his usual precision, and Jordan Love channeling a peak Aaron Rodgers. It’s unclear whether the defenses were outmaneuvered by brilliant play-calling, or simply had an off day. The Lions eventually clinched the victory, but the lingering question is whether the Lions’ defensive injuries will take their toll. The NFC is as competitive as ever, with Angry Ward’s Vikings at 10-2 not receiving enough attention. The Eagles are at 11-2, and the Commanders are at a sneaky 8-5. Any team in the playoff picture could feasibly claim the conference title. That’s my take – I’m eager to hear your predictions for who will grab the NFC.
