PORT JEFF, NY- Greetings, fellow comatose/bored sports fans! Spring Training is finally here!!! Let’s pivot off that energizing news to today’s topics: Dream-Maker Soto Homers in Debut, Stafford Landing Spots
SOTO GOES YARD, METS FANS DREAMS COME TRUE
I know it’s just spring training, but Juan Soto homering in his first at-bat as a Met feels like a dream come true. I just want to take a moment here and truly talk about what it feels like seeing Soto in a Mets uniform. For so many years, us Mets fans have watched from the sidelines as other teams snatched up the biggest stars, while our ownership hesitated to spend on the game’s best. But now? Now we have Steve Cohen, an owner who actually gets it. He saw a generational talent like Soto, opened up the checkbook, and made it happen. The Amazins are here, and we’re serious. For years, it felt like the Mets were always a step behind, never quite able to land the marquee players who could change the franchise. We were stuck with bargain-bin signings and half-measures. But this? This is different. Soto isn’t just a great hitter he’s a superstar, the kind of player who can carry a team to October glory. Pair him with Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor, and our revamped pitching staff, and this team has a chance to do something special.
STAFFORD LANDING SPOTS

The Rams have given Matthew Stafford permission to seek out a potential trade partner. This is very odd to me, after a few years of retooling, the Rams have done an excellent job of rebuilding this roster since their Super Bowl win. They’re extremely young and talented on both sides of the ball, so I find it very curious that Stafford would want out of this situation.
As I discussed last week, I don’t think the Giants are a good fit for an older QB. I think Stafford’s best destinations are the Jets, Steelers or Vikings. The Jets still have a very talented roster and if they’re able to build up the O-line in the draft, Stafford could have a ton of success throwing to Garrett Wilson next year.
The Steelers can be penciled in for about 8-10 wins every year. No better, no worse. Their ceiling is capped because since Big Ben retired they haven’t even come close to having competent QB play. The only reason they’ve managed the success they have is because of Mike Tomlin’s ability to elevate average talent to a tier above. Stafford makes a ton of sense for Pittsburgh, add him, another WR paired with that defense, they could be a real threat in the AFC.
I’m almost certain Angry Ward’s Vikings aren’t bringing back Sam Darnold after his disastrous final two games of the season. JJ McCarthy’s health is still a major question mark going into 2025, though. We’ve seen QB whisperer Kevin O’Connell have success with almost anyone under center, imagine Stafford in that offense throwing to Justin Jefferson. Stafford is a perfect fit for a Minnesota roster that’s ready to win now.
