3 New York Yankees Prospects You Should Know

SPANISH HARLEM – One of the best things about Spring Training is watching the prospects that may possibly have a future on the Major League roster. So far, the New York Yankees have a few prospects that will have an immediate impact now and hopefully the future. Today, I will quickly cover 3 New York Yankees Prospects You Should Know.

JASSON DOMINGUEZ

This is one name that you have certainly heard of, if you have been following the Yankees the last two years. We saw flashes of what he could do in 2023, but injuries ended his season before we could see what he was capable of. Last year, while recovering from Tommy John surgery, he was blocked in the outfield by Alex Verdugo, but this season is the finally his time to shine.

Some may remember him missing catchable balls in left field last season and there should be growing pains again this season, but the Yankees should give him every opportunity to get better throughout the season. From what I have seen, he has good plate discipline and power from both sides of plate. He deserves to be a major leaguer and should provide a much-needed boost to the everyday lineup.

SPENCER JONES

It’s possible that you may know him as the left-handed hitting Aaron Judge and while that would be the best-case scenario, there is still much developing to be had before his name is mentioned alongside the Captain. Standing at 6’6, you can see where the similarities start, when you add his power and long homeruns, he has an interesting future if he continues getting to develop more patience in the box. He is not on the same level as Dominguez and may need more seasoning before being included in any future plans, but he is making quite the statement in Spring Training.

GEORGE LOMBARD JR.

Buddy Diaz

The son of a former major leaguer, Lombard is turning heads at camp. At only 19 years old, he is impressing everyone, including Judge himself, who gave him a glowing review recently. A natural slick fielding shortstop by trade, he has moved around the infield in the minor leagues to allow for more flexibility as he moves up the ranks. I don’t expect the Yankees to speed up his progress unless he absolutely forces them to but there a “sky is the limit” talk to him at the current moment. He is hitting the ball well with power and with age, will only get stronger. Remember his name, as he should someone you may want to keep tabs on.
