PORT JEFF, NY- Greetings, let’s talk some football: NFL Free Agency Frenzy
Steelers Get Metcalf
The Steelers acquired DK Metcalf in a trade with the Seahawks. From the perspective of the Steelers, I find this move a bit odd. Currently they don’t have a QB and they already have a temperamental WR in George Pickens who operates in a similar roll that Metcalf does. This move doesn’t make them any closer to being a contender imo. Now, should they sign Aaron Rodgers I could see how this offense could be much improved, but until then we’ll have to wait and see who’s throwing the ball to Pickens and Metcalf.

Seahawks get Darnold and Kupp.
I like this move for the Seahawks. It was clear Seattle had reached its ceiling with Geno Smith and I was surprised that they were able to get Sam Darnold for the contract they did. It’s three years and 100 million, while the Guaranteed dollar amount is high, they aren’t tied to Darnold for a tremendous amount of time. With the addition of Cooper Kupp and the ascension of Jaxon Smith Njigba, I really like what Seattle is building. If they can build the O-line in the draft, the Seahawks could be a real threat to win the NFC West.
Jets Sign Fields

I like this move a lot for the Jets. It was clear the Aaron Rodgers experiment was a disaster and bringing him back would’ve been just that. Justin Fields is a very interesting talent, he’s not the most gifted QB naturally but he’s incredibly athletic and will add a dynamic element to a very talented Jets offense. Something it hasn’t had for a very long time. This is a very low risk high reward deal for the Jets. Maybe he’s terrible, but just maybe they can allow Fields to play free and perhaps unlock the talent we’ve see glimpses of in his first few seasons.
