PORT JEFF, NY – Baseball is finally back and the Jints fill a whole. Let’s discuss: Yankees Explosion, Mets Slow Start, Giants Sign Wilson
Yankees Explosion
The Yankees set a new team record, hitting 9 HRs on Saturday, scoring 20 runs against the Brewers. After a quiet opening day, Aaron Judge exploded with 3 HRs and driving in 8 runs. Judge continues to put up numbers that only rival prime Barry Bonds. This Yankees lineup showed the ceiling that many believed it could reach. Obviously this twenty run explosion won’t happen every game, but it appears at least early on they may have the best lineup in the American League.
Mets lose two of three
The Mets mustered just one hit in their 2-1 loss to the Astros on Saturday. The Mets struggled to score the first few games. Clay Holmes struggled in his first outing on Opening Day after a stellar Spring Training. I’m not too worried about Holmes. This was his first start as a starter in years and the Astros still posses a strong lineup. It’ll take time for Holmes to settle in, but once he does I think he’ll fit nicely in the middle of the Mets rotation. On the bright side, the Mets did win game two of the series. Also, the entire pitching staff was excellent, with very encouraging outings from Griffin Canning and Tylor Megill. On top of that the bullpen fired six scoreless innings. The offense has started slow, but I’m not worried. The offense is going to be the strength of this team and I look forward to watching it all year long.
Giants Sign Wilson

Just days after signing Jameis Winston, the Giants have made the curious decision to sign Russell Wilson. I was very excited to watch Winston drop back 40 times a game and light up MetLife stadium, but the Giants have other plans. I just don’t get it, Wilson is clearly well past his prime and isn’t capable of elevating a bad roster. That’s not to say Winston is, however, Winston can push the ball downfield and create big plays. Nothing this team does anymore makes sense.
