Port Jeff NY- Greetings, lots to discuss. Let’s get into it: Final Four Recap and Masters Preview
Final Four Recap
Wow. Some thought the 2025 NCAA tournament lacked a Cinderella story with all four number one seeds reaching the final four. However, this set up one of the best final fours in recent history. To kick off the night Florida defeated their SEC Rival Auburn. Senior Guard Walter Clayton was incredible all night, leading the way with 34. Florida has been the best team in the country all year and now hasn’t lost a game since the end of February.
Houston/Duke
I have no idea how Houston won this game. Duke controlled this game for about 38 minutes. Cooper Flagg was amazing much like the entire team until the final two minutes. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team just melt the way Duke did in the final minutes. Trailing by 9 with just over two minutes to play, Houston would go on a incredible 15-3 run to end the game. The smothering scheme Kelvin Sampson drew up to prevent Duke from inbounding the ball was a thing of beauty. I’m still in disbelief that Duke lost this game.
Masters Preview

Come Monday morning, it will officially be Masters week! Let’s talk about it.
Rory McIlroy– Rory at Augusta will always be the central story line heading into the week as he looks to complete the career grand slam and win a major for the first time in over a decade. Rory enters the Masters playing as well as he ever has heading into this tournament. He’s won twice already this year and has compiled two other top 5 finishes. I’m not sure if Rory ever wins a green jacket with as much pressure as the media puts on him. However, I think this is the best chance he’s had at finally getting ending the drought and donning a green jacket.
Colin Morikawa– The only guy playing anywhere near the level of Rory is Colin Morikawa. Despite having not won on tour in nearly two years, Morikawa has played exceptionally well all year with a pair of runner up finishes and no finish worse then 17th. Morikawa currently ranks number one in strokes gained approach on the season which is particularly important this week as Augusta National is well known for being a second shot course. Like Rory, Morikawa is also looking to end a bit of a drought himself and this is as good a chance as any with how well he’s playing.
Scottie Scheffler. It’s been an odd year for the number one player in the world. Scottie missed about a month to open the season after cutting his hand open and requiring surgery. While Scheffler has played very well this season he isn’t striking the ball as well as he was in his historic 2024 season. With Scheffler perhaps coming back to the pack a little this year, this iteration of the Masters feels much more wide open then the prior few years where Scheffler had been so dominant heading into Masters weeks. I of course would never count out Scheffler considering he’s won the Masters twice in the last three year and is still the best player in the world even if he’s not at his peak capabilities at the moment.
