Port Jeff NY– Greetings. Here’s what we’re talking: Sunday at the Masters, Mets Early Outlook. Let’s get into it.
Sunday at the Masters.
This is shaping up to be an all time classic at Augusta. Rory McIlroy leads by two at -12 after an incredible five under par 65. Chasing Rory in second is Bryson Dechambeau, who if you’re unaware, out dueled Rory at the US Open last summer, sending Rory home suffering perhaps his most heartbreaking defeat of his career.
It’s been 11 years since Rory last won a major and since that time no player has faced more scrutiny from the media during his drought. Regardless of the outcome tomorrow I think it’s important to appreciate how remarkable of a player McIlroy is. Despite his lack of majors in the last decade, Rory has been more consistent than any player on the PGA tour. The last few years in the world of golf that saw the tour divide with the emergence of LIV, Rory has been the one to answer all questions about the state of the game and has become the defacto face of the PGA tour. Remarkably during all of this adversity Rory’s game hasn’t taken a hit in the slightest. It won’t be easy for Rory, Bryson has been incredible in the majors in the last year, finishing top 10 in three of the last four and now he sits two back in solo second heading into Sunday. We don’t often see two superstars of this magnitude in the final pairing of a major. I think McIlroy gets it done and finally joins the illustrious list of players to complete the grand slam.
Mets Early Outlook

I’ve been very encouraged from what I’ve seen from this team to open the year. They’re winning games despite being anemic on offense. Aside from Pete Alonso – who’s been incredible to start the year – this teams offense just hasn’t found its stride. I’d also like to point out for those saying Juan Soto has had a slow start to the year, he has an OPS of over 800 and OBP of 408. I have zero concerns about Soto, this is the games best hitter. The power will come. One thing I do have an issue with is Brett Baty continuing to see At Bats. Particularly with Luis Angel Acuna looking very good at the plate in his limited playing time. Baty simply isn’t a major league hitter, at least not with the Mets he won’t be. It’s enough of a sample size, it’s just not working. Acuna needs to be given an extended look at second base before McNeil comes back.
