Knicks/Pacers and Scheffler’s remarkable finish

Port Jeff NY- Greetings, lots to discuss. Lets get into it!

Knicks/Pacers

I couldn’t have been more wrong about this Knicks team. After being blown out in game three against the Celtics, I was certain the Knicks luck had run out. As it turns out Jalen Brunson is perhaps the most clutch player in the NBA and this team is as gritty and tough a team as we’ve seen in recent years. Even before the Jayson Tatum injury the Knicks had game 4 won to go up 3-1 so there is absolutely no asterisks next to this series win. Now, onto Indiana. The Pacers stunned the Cavs by making quick work of what was a historically good Cleveland team that won 64 games. The pacers are led by Tyrese Haliburton who might be the games most prolific playmaker and distributor of the ball. In addition to Haliburton, the pacers also have maybe the games most underrated star in Pascal Siakim. The addition of Siakam last year has been one of the best moves a team has made in the NBA. Indiana is incredibly streaky, they can score a ton of points but if the threes aren’t going down they struggle to score. I really like the way the Knicks matchup with this Pacer team. The combination of OG and Mikal Bridges should be able to limit Siakam somewhat offensively and force Haliburton to be more aggressive on offense which he’s struggled with at times. I think it’ll be a great series that goes at least 6 or 7 games, in the end these teams are very close in talent but what separates the Knicks is Jalen Brunson. Brunson simply has an extra gear he seems to find late in games that propels the Knicks to win close games. I’ll take the Knicks to go to the NBA finals and win this series in 7 games.

Scheffler’s remarkable finish

After a bogey on the 13th hole to drop him back to -6 it seemed Scheffler didn’t have his best stuff, he then stepped up to the drivable par 4 14th and hit his tee shot inside three feet to set up a tap in eagle. Subsequently while being tied for the lead Bryson DeChambeau hooked a nine iron into the water at the par 3 17th and made double bogey. In the span of about 20 minutes Scheffler went from 2 back to solo leader. Scheffler would then play the hardest three holes on the course 16-17 and 18 in two under par giving him a three shot lead heading into Sunday. For a while it seemed we were destined for a Scottie vs Bryson final pairing but Bryson’s disasterous finish and Scheffler’s late run ended all hope. Should Scheffler convert the 54 hole lead which he’s done all seven times he’s held it, it would be his second consecutive win and third major championship. Not bad.
