Port Jeff NY- Greetings, let’s talk some ball while we’re all trapped inside from the snow! Mets Make a Splash, Conference Championship Picks
Mets Make a Splash
FINALLY!
A week after signing Bo Bichette, the Mets have made two more huge moves adding Luis Robert from the White Sox and Freddy Peralta from the Brewers. For the last five years Peralta has been the ace of the Brewers staff and one of the best pitchers in baseball. This is the move we’ve all been waiting for. While the moves GM David Stearns made to begin this offseason were truly puzzling, it appears it’s all coming together.
In addition to Peralta the Mets also added Tobias Myers, who famously had a dominating outing against the Mets in the 2024 Wild Card round. While there are still numerous question marks when it comes to this team’s rotation, all of a sudden there’s a ton of upside and plenty of options for Carlos Mendoza to trot out every day.
As for the other trade… For the last few years Robert has struggled a lot at the plate after an impressive first few seasons. This in my opinion this is a great buy-low spot for the Mets. Robert is still an excellent outfielder and clearly loaded with talent with the bat. I think a lot of his struggles can be attributed to the White Sox having been one of the worst teams in baseball for the last five years. A change of scenery is exactly what Robert needs and I really believe he could be in for a great season.
So the splash has been made but… Are they done?
Conference Championship Picks

Despite losing Bo Nix for the season last week, I think the Broncos absolutely have a shot to win this game. With one of the best defenses in football and maybe the biggest home field advantage in sports I expect this to be a close game. Sean Payton is one of the best offensive minds in the game and I think Jared Stidham can be competent enough to give the Broncos a chance to win. It’s been an odd postseason for the Patriots.
Drake Maye, after an incredible sophomore season, has struggled in both games and been very careless with the football. The Patriots are very lucky to have played two teams that struggled significantly on offense or they’d be watching the AFC title game from home. Ultimately, I do think Maye and this offense do enough to get it done but I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Sean Payton come up with a masterclass offensively and steal the AFC championship as underdogs.
Patriots 23 Broncos 20
This one is simple for me. The Seahawks have been the best team in football for the last 6 weeks and the Rams haven’t looked like the same team since their loss to them in week 16. Seattle is the better and more physical team here and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if this got ugly.
Seahawks 24 Rams 14
