Port Jeff NY- Greetings and happy Sunday! Let’s talk some G-Men
Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the early parts of preseason is how the running back room will look for this upcoming season. Coming into the offseason, I assumed Cam Skattebo would handle a heavy workload after his impressive showing as a rookie with Tyron Tracy operating as a complementary back to spell Skattebo. Now in the past two weeks, the giants have signed Najee Harris and Tyrone Tracy has had two horrific slip ups, allowing Jaxson Dart to be sacked and then fumbling in week 2. It’s been reported that Harris is apparently been brought in to have a significant role. I can’t say I understand this much at all. Harris is coming off a torn Achilles and has quite frankly been an average running back at best for his career. I had hoped the Giants would pencil Skattebo in for 20 plus touches a game, yet now it seems they’re gonna split the workload among the three.

While I do believe Dart is good enough to overcome adversity, I do admit I am worried about some things systematically that are in place from new HC John Harbaugh. The main concern being Matt Nagy who was hired as the OC. Nagy has been the Chiefs OC for the last few years and the offense was abhorrent and that’s with the best QB on earth. I think there’s a real chance we see this team play way too much of washed Najee Harris and run an offense that struggles to stretch the field. Much of what we’ve seen from Matt Nagy run offenses over the last few seasons.
