Port Jeff, happy Friday! Let’s talk sports: the Giants land JJ, the Yankees advance, and the Phillies are out.
The Giants have finally made a move for a quarterback after the season-ending injury to Jackson Dart, opting for a wildcard choice in acquiring JJ McCarthy from the Vikings. McCarthy, a former top-10 pick, has plenty of talent and significant upside, and at just 23 years old, he’s still developing. It’s unclear when or if McCarthy will take the field, but he at least provides another option if Jameis continues to struggle.
The Yankees move on, and I have to share my thoughts on how they dismantled the Red Sox in just two games, despite all the hype Boston received during their incredible regular-season turnaround. For how strong the Red Sox had been over the past few months, the Yankees completely outlasted them. Honestly, this is the most impressed I’ve been by a Yankees team in a long time—it’s not even close. They probably have the best pitching rotation in all of baseball, and if they can get Aaron Judge back, as much as it pains me to say, I think they could win the World Series.

Phillies Eliminated, the Philadelphia Phillies were eliminated on Thursday night against the rival Atlanta Braves, the Phillies, who stumbled into the postseason nearly blowing a six-game lead in about a week with another season of Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, Zack Wheeler, and Christopher Sanchez. Where the Phillies will go from here if anybody’s guess, but regardless, it’s always good to see the Phillies lose when it matters most.
