PORT JEFF, Brewers Win World Series, Giants, big win.
The Milwaukee Brewers are the 2026 MLB champions after defeating the Tampa Bay Rays four games to one. Amid all the talk about next season’s lockout and big spenders like the Dodgers, Mets, and Yankees shelling out over $400 million and debating whether there’s even a salary cap in Major League Baseball, the Brewers—ranked 26th in payroll—proved they were the best team over the entire six-month season. The Brew Crew won 103 games, setting a franchise record, and steamrolled through October. They’ve shown teams like the Mets and fans of the Yankees, Red Sox, and Blue Jays that a large payroll can only take you so far—having a strong farm system and an elite manager like Pat Murphy makes all the difference. If David Stearns, widely credited with building this powerhouse, has another rough season like last year, it could be his last. Manager Andy Green had his interim tag removed after a successful second half of a midseason where, despite the inspired play, there was nothing on the line. Now we’ll see how Green fares on a full-time basis with a season full of expectations.

The Giants scored a huge win over Houston last Sunday, surprising many who expected the Texans to dominate. Starting quarterback McCarthy made his debut in impressive fashion, showing off his skills both on the ground and through the air, completing 20 of 28 passes for 254 yards. Malik Nabers proved he’s back in top form after his pre-ACL tear prowess, perhaps even better than before, while Caca returned from Harbaugh’s doghouse to rush for over 100 yards. Despite injuries to Dart, Burns and Terrell Edmonds, both out for the season, the Giants sit atop the NFC East at 4-2-1. Next week brings a revenge game against Philadelphia, a team that has tormented the Giants for the past decade and claimed two Super Bowl victories. Even without Burns and others, the Giants believe they’re the better team, and nothing less than a win will be acceptable next Sunday.
