Port Jeff NY, Greetings, let’s talk sport(s)! Here’s the lineup: Stunner in Detroit, Mets Moves, Dodgers Keep Adding
Stunner in Detroit
Though I didn’t pick the Lions to go to the Super Bowl, I certainly didn’t expect a one and done situation. Jayden Daniels and the Commanders offense created a nightmare matchup for a severely depleted Lions defense. The Lions were a mess, they tried way too many trick plays, though some did work, however they deviated too far away from what was successful for them this year. On top of the play calling, Jared Goff was not good, he looked panicked in the pocket and it resulted in him turning the ball over several times. This is obviously a brutal loss for the Lions who will almost certainly lose each of its coordinators, Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn to HC positions. For the Commanders, the sky’s the limit. Whether it’s the Rams or the Eagles. Jayden Daniels is playing as well as any QB in the NFL and that alone is enough to propel them to their first Super Bowl since 1992
Mets Moves
The Mets signed reliever AJ Minter to a two year 22$ million contract. I like this move a lot, Minter was very good for many years for the Braves and should immediately become the 8th inning man in front of Edwin Diaz. After the news of this signing broke, Andy Martino reported that the Mets aren’t expected to re-sign Pete Alonso. I’m still skeptical about the market for Alonso and I wouldn’t rule out a return to the Mets on a short term deal. It would be very disappointing for Alonso not to be a part of what should be a very special team for the next several years.
Dodgers Keep Adding

The rich get richer. This isn’t really a surprising decision. The Dodgers already have two star players from Japan in Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and they have more money than any team in baseball. Fresh off winning the World Series, the Dodgers have continued to load up, signing Blake Snell, bringing back Teoscar Hernandez and now signing Roki Sasaki. They have the best rotation in baseball and perhaps the best lineup in baseball. Their preseason win total is set at an absurd 102. Some people are bothered that the Dodgers can “buy” a World Series and believe that there should be some kind of salary cap to keep things more competitive. I disagree, these owners are all worth hundreds of millions of dollars and some even billions. If they want to spend big and win they certainly can they’re just choosing not to.
