PORT JEFF, NY- Greetings, let’s get right into today’s topics: Mets Trade Rumors and Sunday at The Open.
METS TRADE RUMORS
The Mets have already experienced significant change after losing Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo and many other long term fan favorites in free agency this past offseason. Now, in what’s been maybe the worst season in franchise history, it’s been reported the Mets are considering trading Francisco Lindor. I can’t put into words how bad of a decision this would be. Since arriving to NY, Lindor has become one of the greatest Mets to ever put on the uniform. This is a franchise that allowed Jose Reyes to leave, Jacob DeGrom to leave, and many others. As if they haven’t alienated the fan base enough, trading Lindor might be the final straw. The Mets have promising young talent beginning to emerge and still have established stars like Soto and Lindor capable of leading a competitive team.
SUNDAY AT THE OPEN
We’re in for a terrific finish to the final major of 2026. Sam Burns leads at -10 by two over Si Woo Kim and Ryan Fox. The biggest story of the week is the two shot penalty that Bryson DeChambeau was given after the completion of his second round for improving his lie on a ball in the fescue. I’m not sure the penalty was warranted, we see players constantly doing similar things and I certainly don’t think DeChambeau deliberately improved his lie. The two shot penalty barring a Sunday comeback will almost certainly cost Bryson a real shot at winning this tournament. Nevertheless we’re in store for a tremendous Sunday as Sam Burns appears poised to finally claim his first major after many recent close calls.
