Mets Signings, CFB Playoff, Knicks

HOLBROOK, NY – The leaves are falling, the MLB Hotstove League is heating up and somehow, NBA games mean something in early December. With that, here are today’s topics: Mets Signings, CFB Playoff, Knicks

Mets moves

The Mets made a handful of moves this week. Notably signing utility man Joey Wendle and longtime Yankees starter Luis Severino. Severino had by far the worst season of his career last year, despite that I like this move. It’s a low risk high upside play. Injuries have plagued Severino for much of his career. A change of scenery and pitching in a more pitcher friendly environment should benefit Severino. Joey Wendle will effectively replace Luis Guillorme. Wendle is a versatile player that can play multiple positions around the diamond and while he’s struggled at the plate the last few seasons with Miami, he should remain useful as a bat off the bench this season.

CFB Playoff

The College Football Playoff field will be revealed today at noon. Michigan and Washington are in. The uncertainty remains with Alabama, who defeated Georgia yesterday. Texas, who defeated Oklahoma State and has already beaten ‘Bama this season, and finally Florida State who defeated Louisville to clinch the ACC title and an undefeated season. Florida State did however lose its star QB Jordan Travis two weeks ago and it remains to be seen how the committee will take that into account. The four most deserving teams IMHO are Michigan, Washington, Texas and Florida State, however the four teams the committee will choose are a very different thing.
