EL BARRIO,
, EL FALLS – This is another 1 am on Saturday piece, so bare with me. It was another busy week with daddy daycare and online classes. It was a bit draining but it didn’t slow me down. Anyway, today will feature the Song of the Week, followed by: NHL Draft, NBA Draft and Good News Update.
Song of the Week: I was struggling to find a song and realized how much kid’s movie music get stuck in my head. I didn’t take long to pick out a song of the week. So this week’s Song of the Week is Get Back Up Again by Anna Kendrick. It is nice uplifting track and it fits for Short Matt‘s attitude.
NHL Draft: So one of New York’s 3 teams, the Buffalo Sabres, got the first pick in the draft and grabbed Swedish defenseman Rasmus Dahlin as their pick. He is expected to be a young Denis Potvin and since you build from the back, that was a great call for them. The NY Rangers grabbed the Russian, Vitali Kravtsov, who is seen as a big time scorer which the Rangers definitely need. The NY Islanders grabbed Oliver Wahlstrom who could develop into a sold center with a Brett Hull like shot.
NBA Draft: I only care about the Knicks and I am not gonna bother talking about who the Nets picked. The NY Knicks took Buddy Diaz‘s guy, Kevin Knox and most people seem happy with it but with him being a high risk, high reward guy, I afraid, he will bomb because I am a NY sports guy and they always bomb. If he doesn’t that will be great. The Knicks also drafted a high schooler in the second round that I can see them sending to the G-League for seasoning because obviously he is not ready, hopefully, Mitchell Robinson, will be useful and not traded so he can blow up somewhere else. The Nets drafted a kid from Bosnia and another from Latvia. I mean unless the Latvian turns into another “KP the God”, Kristaps Porzingis, then we will never hear of these players.
Good News Update: As we have had a tough week, I came across this twitter feed and I recommend everyone check out this thread filled with lots of good stories that will make you smile and cry because we need it. We just spent a week reading and listening to children separated from their family and that stuff wears on your soul, man. Click on this link to see the thread.
To close out an awful week, halfway through an awful year, here’s a thread with some good news stories I’ve come across over the past six months.
If you need a boost, or a reminder that humanity is worth the effort, I hope this helps.
If it does, please add and share.
