Ebs’ Hot Takes: Virginia Men’s Basketball, Antonio Brown, MLB Free Agency

FROM THE PRESS BOX – From LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers’ latest collapse to all these Kyler Murray rumors, it’s been a crazy start to one of the calmer months in the sports world.

Also, have you seen some of the latest MLB projections out there? Some have the Chicago Cubs finishing under .500. Interesting.

Here’s the latest set of Ebs’ Hot Takes.

Enjoy.

Virginia men’s basketball is Final Four bound. This isn’t the same Virginia men’s basketball team as it was a year ago. So if you’re looking for them to be the butt of the NCAA tournament again this year, find a new team.

Maybe Duke if Zion Williamson still isn’t back.

Not only can this Virginia squad play defense, but it’s full of sharpshooters. While they won’t go 18-for-25 beyond the arc every time out, like they did Monday against Syracuse, it’s not too far off.

That 3-point shooting and stout defense will carry them a long way. Don’t be surprised if they’re playing for a national title in April.

Antonio Brown ends up on the Oakland Raiders. Something tells me that we could see Antonio Brown, Le’Veon Bell and Murray all in Oakland come August.

The Raiders have already been linked to Brown and they have the best draft capital, which is what the Pittsburgh Steelers are looking for. It just makes too much sense.

Oh, and the Raiders need a running back too. Brown and Bell are buddies and this has Oakland Raiders all over it.

Now here’s the tricky part. Murray.

Look, does Kliff Kingsbury love himself some Murray? Of course.

But I’m sorry, after trading up to draft Josh Rosen last year, how can the Arizona Cardinals now draft Murray? It makes no sense.

Not to mention, Rosen is probably better than Murray too.

All this smoke is in an effort to draw the Raiders up to No. 1. And I bet they take the bait.

Major League Baseball’s free agency needs to be corrected. Despite the mega deals for Manny Machado and Bryce Harper, free agency is broken.

It blows my mind that players like Adam Jones, Craig Kimbrel and Dallas Keuchel are all still free agents.

Each of the three should have signed with teams by now. For Kimbrel and Keuchel, if they don’t sign soon, they might not be ready for opening day.

Any of the young teams could use a veteran presence in their clubhouse like Jones. Kimbrel should just go back to the Boston Red Sox because their bullpen is a problem. And I don’t care what Brian Cashman says, give Keuchel’s agent a call. With Luis Severino and CC Sabathia both likely starting the season on the IL, they could use the help.
