WHITESTONE, NY – First it was J-Lo and Puffy, then it was J-Lo and Ben, after that it was J-Lo and A-Rod. Whoever is keeping score it’s J-Lo and Ben Part II, plus the new duo… Taylor and Travis. The Double T Duo has taken over America’s mind.
I was at an Easter Sunday Tampa Rays vs. Toronto Blue Jays game at the Trop, down in St. Pete, Florida, where a ritual took place after six innings were played. A silent auction is held on signed items by the home team and the visiting club. On this day a framed signed photo of Hall of Famer Paul Molitor was up for grabs along with an autographed Vladdy Guererro Jr. jersey. A bat signed by the great Curtis Mead, who mans second base for the Rays, was also up for bidding.
Fans flocked to the area to see if their bids won out. The highest bid item went for 500 bucks. It was a collage of photos of none other than Taylor Swift. Eleven pictures of Travis’ girlfriend put together in a frame with a laser signature of the “Shake it Off” singer.
The bidding started at 150 dollars and then $160.00. The eventual winner grabbed the pen and wrote $500.00 on the charity auction bid sheet. He went home a happy customer and I hope that bid went towards the charity’s cause.
America’s new big thing named Ms. Swift is now taking over the sports memorabilia dept. She’s generating more money than a Hall of Famer can. All I got to say to that is, “Beam me up, Scotty. There’s no intelligent life down here.”
