PORT JEFFERSON,  NY- Greetings. Let’s zone in for a massive 24 hours of baseball and football. Here’s where we’ll go: Mets v Dodgers, Yankees v Guardians, Jets Fire Robert Saleh

Mets v Dodgers

For the second straight week I’ll start by saying HOLY S*IT! The Mets continue their magical season in LA against the Dodgers in the NLCS. Just when I think this team can’t possibly continue to produce these almost movie-like moments, they do just that. The Grand Slam by Francisco Lindor was the biggest HR ever hit at CitiField and one of the best moments this franchise has ever had. I must admit, I was rooting for the Dodgers against the Padres, as I believe the Mets match-up better against LA. However, the Dodgers are an excellent team, with a loaded lineup that will be a very difficult to defeat. They also have home field advantage. Either way, this has been the most incredible Mets team I’ve ever watched. I’m extremely proud of this unit for their incredible never-say-die attitude that they’ve displayed all season long.

Yankees v Guardians

This is it for the Yankees. They are far and away the superior team. Cleveland doesn’t have the lineup or rotational depth to compete with them. However, what the Guardians do have is the best bullpen in baseball, led by dominant closer Emmanuel Clase. If the Guardians can scratch out a few runs early in these games and get out ahead early, they can shorten these games and have a real shot at knocking off the Yanks. If the Bronx Bombers can’t pull this off it’ll be a massive disappointment.

It wouldn’t stun me to see this be Aaron Boone’s final season if they don’t advance.

Jets Fire Salah

Jacob Sternberg

The Jets (and Aaron Rodgers) fired Robert Saleh earlier this week. After consecutive losses to the Broncos and Angry Ward’s Vikings,  Jets owner Woody Johnson decided a big change was needed. I’m a little surprised by this decision, as it’s been the Jets offense that’s been underachieving all year long. It wasn’t the defense – which Saleh has been running. The offense is an absolute mess. They can’t run the ball and the offensive line e doesn’t look much better than it did last year. The one saving grace is interim Head Coach Jeff Ulbrich decided to change play callers on offense. He removed Nathanial Hackett from that spot. Hackett has been a disaster at OC this year, so a change can only be a good thing.

I think the Jets can still compete for a playoff spot, but they have to turn this around quickly. A loss to Buffalo on MNF would send them to 2-4,  which might be all-she-wrote in a very competitive AFC.

That’s all for me. Feel free to leave your thoughts below and come back tomorrow for Sports Rain Man, Junoir Blaber.
