PORT JEFF, NY- Happy Mother’s Day! Let’s talk some ball! How ’bout: Knicks Drop Game Three, Baty Homers Twice, PGA Championship Preview
Knicks Drop Game Three
After two improbable wins as double digit underdogs in Boston, the Knicks were met with a rude awakening. This isn’t surprising, the Celtics are far and away the better team, who just so happened to have consecutive historically bad games from three point range. In game three, the Celtics shot an incredible 50% from three, which makes them almost unbeatable. They won’t shoot as well as they did yesterday, or as poorly as they did in games one and two. However, if they shoot at just their baseline number for the entire year, I really struggle to see how the Knicks win another game in this series.
Baty Homers… Twice.
What a twist. After Mark Vientos’ breakout 2024 season it seemed as though Brett Baty’s future with the Mets was in serious doubt. Baty homered twice and drove in 5 runs in Saturdays loss. Now with Vientos struggling to begin the year, Carlos Mendoza is left with a difficult decision as to who to play. With McNeil returning from injury and Luis Angel Acuna being very productive to start the year, the Mets have an excellent problem to have. For now I think Mendoza needs to ride the hot hand which at the moment is Brett Baty. Though I do have faith Vientos will come around soon. Either way it’s a great problem to have and if both Vientos and Baty can continue to hit it will add depth to what might be the best lineup in baseball.
PGA Championship Preview

The second major of the season gets underway at Quail Hollow country club in North Carolina. Lets make some picks.
Rory McIlroy- Fresh off finally winning The Masters and a major for the first time in over a decade, Rory enters the second major of the year in impeccable form and will tee it up at a course he’s won at four times in his career. After finally getting the monkey off his back, Rory is poised to contend yet again and add a 6th major to his resume.
Justin Thomas: A two time PGA champion, Thomas won the RBC Heritage Open for his first win in over three years. Thomas now returns to Quail Hollow – the sight of his first PGA Championship – in excellent form. He enters this Sunday at the Truist Championship in a tie for third as he seeks a win in consecutive starts.
That’s it for me. Feel free to offer your thoughts below and come back tomorrow for the Sports Rain Man… Junoir Blaber.
