PORT JEFF NY, – Happy Holidays everyone. Here’s what we got: Lions eliminated, Knicks big comeback, Mets move another piece.
In a surprising twist, the powerhouse Detroit Lions have been knocked out of postseason contention. It’s been a wild year, with the Bears surging back from irrelevance under former Lions OC Ben Johnson. For Detroit, it’s been a season from hell—plagued by injuries, underperformance, and one of the league’s worst defenses. Now, the Lions head into what might be the most important offseason in franchise history with more questions than answers.

The Knicks kicked off Christmas Day festivities with a thrilling comeback at MSG against the Cavs. Cleveland came out blazing, jumping to a 16-3 lead, but the Knicks quickly responded, taking the lead by midway through the second quarter. From there, it looked like it might be the Cavs’ day, until an incredible effort from former Marquette star Tyler Kolek and newcomer Jordan Clarkson reignited the Knicks. In the fourth, the league’s best closer, Jalen Brunson, took over to seal an unbelievable win. This victory should put the league on notice as the Knicks continue to improve throughout the season.
The Mets have made another move, continuing the teardown of the team we knew and loved, as David Stearns sent Jeff McNeil to the Athletics. Growing up with David Wright and Jose Reyes, it once felt like McNeil and Alonso could be the new and improved version of that duo.
Regardless of McNeil’s antics after missing a pitch he thought he should crush or misplaying a groundball, he did plenty right. He played wherever he was needed and did it well, delivered countless clutch hits, and was often the only Met to show up in big moments. Once again, David Stearns desperately needs a big move to win back the trust of the fanbase.
