PORT JEFF, NY – Happy Friday! Here are out topics for discussion: Latest with Mets, Islanders Big Win, Hoops Transfer Portal Opens
Latest with Mets
Since a lackluster 3-4 start to the season, the Mets had picked up some steam before dropping 2 of 3 to the Diamondbacks. In last night’s game specifically, the bullpen fell apart. For the first time this season, behind a gem from Nolan McLean, the Mets looked poised to win a series for the second straight time. The bigger issue with the Mets is that without Juan Soto, the Mets offense has been too inconsistent – at the very least. Francisco Lindor has been famous for his slow starts since joining the Mets, but I’m not sure the Mets can afford for him to be in a slump much longer. Every win matters.
Islanders Big Win
The Isles had a big win, facing a must-win situation. They had their back to the wall, but took it to the Toronto Maple Leaf’s right away. You could tell the urgency and want to be strong in the Fish Sticks, as they jumped out to a 1-goal lead behind Brady Scheen. Goals continued from JG Pageau and rookie sensation Matthew Schaefer. The Islanders are currently in a dogfight for the last Wild Card spot and with the new hiring of Peter Debor, the time is now to make a move.
Transfer Portal 0pens

College basketball is officially over on the court. Off the court, however, it’s just beginning, as the transfer portal opens after the National Championship.
There have been some big names already involved; John Blackwell from Wisconsin, KJ Lewis from Georgetown, and Flory Bidunga from Kansas.
With NIL money to throw around, St. John’s has been interested in many of the top stars in the portal, including Lewis and Bidunga. If they were to get either, it would be a massive start to a pivotal off-season, as they are replacing three core pieces – including the heart and soul Zuby Ejiofor.
Ian Jackson and Dylan Darling are returning to the Johnnies’s next season and will prove pivotal building blocks for the next season year two.
