Niagara Falls, NY: Happy Monday, it’s the last week of August and the kids will start going back soon. Which of course has everybody excited. And the excitement here is the menu for today we are going to start with the New York Mets, the English Premier League and the WNBA.
NY Mets Week in Review
The Mets went three and three this week and it could have been five and one. That’s the winning the series 2-1 against the Padres they went and lost Friday night’s game given up a walk-off Homer to the Chicago White Sox. One Saturday and then gave up a walk-off home on Sunday to the White sox. Kodai Senga got to save on on Saturday and then came back to try and keep the game one one on Sunday and fail. That Saturday you told thrown 23 pictures which was a lot since they started trying to make him the closer but he got to save and then he couldn’t do it on sunday. He’s got to work on being able to go back to back. Senga has struggled as a starter and this moves to the bullpen though doesn’t seem crazy. He actually does very well for the meds first time through the lineup as a starter. So if he could just get used to the habit of pitching on back to back days more often and slowly prepare himself for that I think him and his ghost walk ball with the right fastball could become a regular closer in the league.
It’s back. The top soccer league I’m the world. You know they’re talking about how half of this league is now owned by American billionaires or consortiums. That’s how popular it is and how much money there is in this league. There’s some teams that are in the bottom of the standings or middle of the things consistently that have more of a budget then the top teams and small countries like Belgium and the majority of teams in France and Spain. I’m seeing Tik Tok videos of wives and girlfriends talking about preparing for 10 months of how 11 men are going to control my husband’s attitude on a weekly basis. And yes that’s sports that’s football fandom. The league kicked off this past weekend and there were some shocking results including my Manchester United losing to nothing to newly promoted Hull City. I can’t get into promotion relegation the only thing I always explain it as is imagine if the best triple A team can be promoted to the majors to replace the worst major league baseball team. And that’s what happened. Arsenal are defending Champions will see if they hold on to the title and I’ll come back to check on things I mean there’s a whole other nine months to go.
WNBA
We’re heading towards the business end of the season and it looks like the playoff structures almost done. The Minnesota Lynx have looked the best team in the league and clearly have the one seed followed by the Golden State Valkyrie and the two spot. And the three spot is the defendant Champion Las Vegas Aces with the newly revamped Atlanta Dream and 4th and the Indiana Fever 5. If that holds the want to be Magic versus bird rivalry of Angel Reese versus Caitlin Clark will be a tasty playoff game. The 6th seed is the always challenging New York liberty. As a New York Liberty fan I’m hoping to even move up to 5th to take the spa from the fever or drop to seven and are overtaken by the Washington mystics. I just know playoff Asia Wilson is a different beast and a really like New York to avoid her in the first round and make her somebody else’s problem. Battling it out for the 8th is the newly revamped Dallas wings and the expansion Portland fire. We’ll see who emerges out of that but it looks like those teams have done the most work with their back room and their rebuilding. That success is a sign off and of good management and good coaching. It’s no surprise that the Chicago Sky continue to struggle because they’re hardly managed and why they had to trade recently their lineup is still bad.
