MTM HQ – Finally! Football that counts!
Ladies and gentlemen… We are three days away from the first game of the 2014 NFL Regular Season. Thursday night marks the start with the Green Bay Packers taking on the Super Bowl champs, the Seattle Seahawks – a match-up that includes two of the toughest teams in the NFC.
But Thursday night’s game is only the start! Week 1 features five divisional games and Peyton Manning getting another crack at his old team. Are you ready for some football?!?
Here are three things to expect from this week’s action:
The Seattle Seahawks will start the season undefeated: If it weren’t for some of the Packers recent injuries, most notably defensive tackle B.J. Raji, Green Bay would have been primed for the upset. This doesn’t mean that the Packers won’t have a good season, because they should be a wildcard team at the very least. They just won’t go undefeated this season. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
There will be an unexpected upset: There are a couple of match-ups to keep an eye on this weekend. The first one is the San Francisco 49ers at the Dallas Cowboys. The 49ers are on the road, and they come into Jerry’s World with a lot of problems. This team had trouble scoring in the preseason and they have a lot of problems on their front seven on the defense. Upset alert! The second game to look for is the Buffalo Bills at the Chicago Bears. While this is no guarantee, the Bears don’t have the best defense and the Bills’ running game could take advantage of that. If EJ Manuel can limit the mistakes and the Buffalo secondary can hold Matt Forte, Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery in check, than they have a shot.
RG3 will bounce back: There are a lot of people questioning whether or not Robert Griffin III should be the starting quarterback in Washington. Well he will prove his doubters wrong on Sunday. With an offense that includes weapons like DeSean Jackson, Alfred Morris and Pierre Garcon, RG3 shouldn’t have too much trouble against this Houston Texans squad.
