NFL Week 18, Knicks Are Hot, PGA Tour Begins

HOLBROOK, NY– As Larry David said, “It’s too late to say Happy New Year.” With that, let’s get right into today’s topics: NFL Week 18, Knicks Are Hot, PGA Tour Begins

NFL Week 18

To kick off the final week of the NFL regular season, the Texans clinched a playoff berth with a victory over the Colts and the Steelers kept their hopes alive for at least one more day, they’ll need some help to get in. C.J. Stroud alone makes the Texans a dangerous opponent for whoever they face in the AFC.

NFC East

The Philadelphia Eagles are falling apart at the seams. Something just doesn’t look right with this entire team. Hurts continues to look hampered by some injury and the defense has gotten progressively worse. While they still have a chance to win the division (with a win and a Dallas loss), they may just be better off resting their guys and getting as healthy as possible for a very winnable match-up against the winner of the NFC South… For the Cowboys, things couldn’t have played out much better. Beat the Commanders and they’re the two seed and home field advantage through at least the divisional round of the playoffs. The splits have been drastic between home and road for Dallas, especially on offense where they’ve averaged 37 PPG at home compared to just 21 PPG on the road.

In all my years of watching the NFL I’ve never seen so many flawed teams. Aside from Baltimore, who has looked the part of a juggernaut. Who else has week in and week out played consistent football? Brock Purdy has struggled in big games for the 49ers… Dallas can’t win on the road. Miami is riddled with injuries on both sides of the ball. The defending champion Chiefs are a mess at receiver. The true Wild Card in all of this is the Buffalo Bills. No team has a wider range of outcomes each week. The Bills can be the 2 seed and win their division with a victory over the Dolphins on Sunday night football or they can miss the playoffs completely with a loss.

At risk of looking like an idiot if they miss the playoffs all together I’ll give my Super Bowl Prediction: 49ers over Bills.

Knicks

Since the acquisition of OG Anunoby the Knicks are 4-0 and have held their opponents to an NBA best 103 PPG. In the last 20 games Julius Randle is averaging 28 PPG, Jalen Brunson somehow continues to be the most underrated player in the NBA while being a superstar at the same time. At the beginning of the year I believed RJ Barrett taking a leap forward would elevate this team to heights we haven’t seen since the early Melo days. However it’s been the trade for Anunoby has done just that, this team has already proved with wins over Minnesota, Philadelphia, and Milwaukee in recent weeks that they belong among the top teams in the NBA.

PGA Tour.

Jacob Sternberg

In the first tournament of the 2024 season and the first in the post Jon Rahm era. Chris Kirk leads after 54 holes at -21 over Akshay Bhatia in second, and Jordan Spieth, Xander Schuaffele, and Byeong Hun-An in a tie for third along with many others still in the mix. Among the many is world number 1 Scottie Scheffler. If Scheffler ever figures out how to putt he’s going to win tournaments by 10 strokes. Scheffler lost over 2 strokes putting to the field on Saturday alone.
