PORT JEFF, NY – It’s too hot to dance around our topics, lets dive in to: NBA Draft Reactions, Mets vs Braves
NBA Draft Reactions
There were several surprising developments, including unexpected slides and intriguing selections. A discussion about the NBA Draft would be incomplete without addressing the first pick, Cooper Flagg. The standout freshman from Duke was an undeniable choice for the Dallas Mavericks at number one. As previously noted, Flagg is among the most talented in college basketball and is expected to quickly transform the Mavericks into strong contenders.
After selecting Flagg, the Spurs took Dylan Harper, the star guard from Rutgers, as the second overall pick. Harper is a player poised to make an immediate impact on his new, joining forces with Wemby to establish an elite 1-2 punch San Antonio. Following the two picks, speculation began to arise. At number three, the 76ers selected the explosive guard VJ Edgecombe from Baylor. Edgecombe possesses one of the highest ceilings of any player in this draft and will provide Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid with another formidable weapon.
The sure things in the draft have been addressed, so now we turn to some surprises. The first surprise comes from Utah, where Danny Ainge drafted Ace Bailey despite Bailey openly stating he did not want to play there. Bailey, an elite prospect from Rutgers, is poised to become a great NBA player. However, convincing the rest of the young team to embrace a player who has expressed reluctance to join might pose a challenge. In my opinion, the steal of this draft is Egor Demin of BYU, selected by the Brooklyn Nets. At just 18 years old and standing 6’10″, Demin is a point forward with immense potential. For a team like the Nets, who are striving to define their identity, Demin is excellent.

Mets vs Braves
After two less than inspiring performances in the first two games of the series, the Metros took the next two from Atlanta, in the process the Mets lost another SP in Griffin Canning in just the third inning, Austin Warren- who was just called up from triple A gave the Mets 2.0 scoreless innings out of the bullpen, with this result the Mets also retook the lead in the NL East by .05 games over Philly who were swept in Houston. LFGM!
