BRONX, NY – I’d like to start today’s column a little different than usual, by sharing with you the best movie I’ve seen all summer. It’s a short movie (nothing close to the 3+ hour yawners we’ve all become accustomed to), but it’s action-packed, and I’ve seen it multiple times. Check it out.
Pretty good, huh? Okay, let’s move on.
Los Angeles Lakers Being Sold for $12.5 Billion. Does anyone other than Jeanie Buss care? Also, did you know the Buss clan was one of those annoying families that gave all their kids names with the same letter? Johnny, Jimmy, Janie, Joey, Jesse, and Jeanie. Jeez! Even the Ramones had the good taste to stop at Joey and Johnny. Anyway, rich people selling a team to other, even richer people. Whatevs.
Mets 17.5 Back and Playing Their Best Baseball of the Season.

I honestly only include Mets updates so that my friend JG Clancy can remind everyone what he’s been saying since March: No reason to talk about this team until 2027. But they did have three outfield assists against Clancy’s new team, the Padres, on Monday night… which was pretty cool! It does not escape most fans that the kids on the team are hustling and playing D and the guy making over $750 million isn’t really part of this minor resurgence. Hopefully they can figure it out for next year.
Rams’ Receiver Puka Nacua Bites. Back in the day, this header could be taken to mean, “Puka Nacua is a crappy wide receiver” but, no, he’s actually quite a good receiver. But, apparently, he bites. He’s currently being sued by a woman who says he bit her on her back shoulder on New Year’s Eve. He and his legal team haven’t exactly denied that this happened and, if you’ve seen the pic, yikes! I don’t care how good an athlete or how big a star you are, you can’t treat people like props in your messed-up movie. There’s probably some sort of sealed settlement coming, but let’s see how Goodell and the NFL handle this one.
Breaking News!

As I am writing this, Fernando Tatis Jr. has homered twice tonight for JG Clancy’s Padres, which means it may be a good time to random drug test players on both teams after the game. Y’know, just for smiles.
Breaking Away. A great coming-of-age film about four friends in Bloomington, Indiana. Also a great film for anyone who likes bicycles. Also, the movie I think I’m gonna watch after I finish this up… which is now.
Thanks for tuning in. I am relatively sure Buddy Diaz is back tomorrow, probably talking some Yankees baseball. Speaking of which, Aaron Boone is gonna make a great annoying broadcast guy for that team one day.
