Blaber’s Blabberings: College Football, Martin/Incognito, Jets in Playoffs, In-form NY Rangers?

Go "ME!"
Go “ME!”

“Forgive them father, they know not what they do. “

El Barrio, Bronx – Welcome to another Deacon Blaber sermon. My mission to educate the members of this parish and our readers, never ceases. We will discuss the continued farce that is the BCS and NCAA college football, more on the Jonathan Martin/Dick Incognito drama, the Jets in the Playoffs and the in-form NY Rangers.

Apparently the Oregon Nikes, I mean Duckies, lost last week. So that means they will dropped from #3 in the BCS and it now leaves only 4 undefeated teams in the Notoriously Corrupt Archaic A$$ociation‘s D1. Eventually they will find a way to screw everyone. Kids will be flogged like horses, then chucked away. Coaches can remain morally bankrupt but financially well paid. I literally do pray for the day this fiasco ends. I say forgive them for what they do because those involved have convinced themselves that they are doing good and helping. Reality is far from being in their grasp. It also appears Saint Ed O’Bannon‘s lawsuit has hit a road-bump as the judge has ruled that it will be impossible to determine a far amount for college stars from previous years. The payment agreed to, should they win would be a lump sum and it will only affect future stars.

richie-incognitoThe NFL rabbit hole that is the Jonathan Martin/Dick Incognito case. It is still not clear how much the Miami Dolphins management knew and or encouraged. Although they obviously seemed to know more than they officially admitted. Now after suspending Incognito, it appears, that Incognito is taking his case to the union. By the rules of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, a player can only be suspended 4 games for off the field matters. The Dolphin suspended Incognito but never stated what team rule he broke or the reason for his suspension. Hey even Dicks rights and he is exercising his.

The NY Jets are in the playoffs!! Well that is, if the playoffs started today. But they don’t so why is this worth mentioning because the Jets would currently be locked in the NY Giants out. What frustrates us Jets fans so much is that no one is talking about the incredible job Rex Ryan is doing with this team. He lost his good friend as the GM. His offense is filled nobodies, he got rid of close friends and coaching assistants. Considering all that turnover and off-season turmoil he still has them in the playoff picture. Meanwhile Uncle Tom Coughlin is given a pass and the pressure falls on his players and GM Jerry Reese. The media, MtM included treats The Rexxies like we are NY football’s stepchild.

NYR-3-new-york-rangers-8836300-1024-768Finally after a 2-6 start guess who is above .500 and playing good hockey!?! That’s right! The NY Rangers. Now no one is predicting a title but they seem to be finally clicking and that feels good. It is a long season and the Metropolitan division (pardon me while I spit) won’t be a cake walk but it least it doesn’t appear to be a total disaster of a season.

Oh and if you haven’t done so yet, take a minute to read up on Batkid. Totally corny, yet heartwarming. You eyeballs may get a little sweaty.

That is it for now, feel free to comment below and come back tomorrow for MTM’s version of Batkid (except he beat cancer twice!!!) Chessy Bruin.
